KB-30H Melt Unit

Slautterback's Solid State KB 30H Melt Units are machines used for melting and pumping hot melt thermoplastic adhesives. Melt Units that are specified as H Models, are designed for use with Slautterback Automatic Heads and Hot-Melt Supply Hoses. A Solid State KB Melt Unit consists of a heated Melt Tank, a motor-driven positive displacement Gear Pump, an adjustable Pressure & Flow-Control Valve, and Solid State Temperature Controllers. A KB 30H Melt Unit is equipped with a 30 lb. capacity Melt Tank. All KB Melt Units are completely electric and do not require the use of compressed air for operation. KB Melt Units are able to pump a variety of hot melt materials, such as packaging adhesives, product assembly adhesives, and thermoplastic potting materials. The Melt Tank's cylindrical design will accept granular, flake, or chunk forms of hot-melt adhesives. A Melt Grid at the bottom of the tank transfers heat efficiently from the Heaters into the hot-melt material. The melt tank's temperature is regulated by a Solid State Temperature Controller located on the front panel.

ET-4 Event Timer

This solid state, microprocessor based timer is easy to operate. The user selects one or two dispensing head groups and adjusts the time event duration for a glue or gap pattern for this head group. The event sequence is initiated by an external trigger. ET-4 will accept up to 4 glue or gap events per head group. Each event pattern is switch selected, providing 1 millisecond resolution and ±0.5 millisecond accuracy and repeatability. ET-4 also provides input, output and power isolation, eliminating problems associated with system ground/neutral, floating voltages and noise triggering.

Features:

  • All solid state microprocessor based electronics.
  • Simple toggle switch programming procedure.
  • Independent programming of 2 head groups.
  • One input trigger for both head groups.
  • Selection and adjustment of any head group program.
  • Self test when processor is powered up.
  • digit time display (9.999 seconds).
  • An LED display for dependability and easy viewing.
  • Function head test switch.
  • Control of on-off function for motors and solenoids.
  • Control of time dependent functions of a parent machine.
  • Power off memory data retention.

The ET-4 will operate with any Slautterback Applicator Head. With the use of an external 24 V power supply, the ET-4 can switch several 24 VDC solenoid valves. Consequently, the ET-4 can also be used with Nordson or Graco/LTI products.

HD2 Head Driver

The Slautterback HD2 Head Driver is a solid state electronic device which enhances the performance of Slautterback Electric Applicator Heads to produce extremely accurate patterns. The HD2 response time increases the opening and closing speed of the adhesive valve. This translates into sharper cut-off and increased accuracy of pattern placement. The speed and precision of the HD2 is three times greater than conventional DC drivers. The HD2 can open a single electric valve in 2 to 3 milliseconds, hold it open for as few as 1 to 2 milliseconds and allow it to close in 2 to 3 milliseconds. It can fire one head or valve module continuously every 10 milliseconds.
Features:
  • Improves speed of automatic applicator valves
  • Valves open in 2-3 ms, close in 2-3 ms
  • Continuous operation of a single valve at 10 ms cycles (a cycle is the time in which the HD2 fires on and off)
  • High precision pattern control with accurate and repeatable placement
  • Pattern registration accuracy of +0.05 ms (±0.05" at 500 fpm)
  • Supports two independent head groups, each controlled by an optically isolated input
  • Each head group can activate a maximum of two standard electric heads or four E900 Series miniature valving modules.
  • Built-in test fire switch
  • Built-in power supply
  • One unit serves 100 VAC to 240 VAC systems

E100XT Automatic Applicator Heads (2)

The Slautterback E100 Automatic Applicator Head is an electrically actuated and heated valve for applying hot melt materials. Hot melt materials are supplied to the E100 Head through a hot melt supply hose. Valving is accomplished by an electromagnetic force from a coil, surrounding the valving chamber. This force activates a spring-loaded plunger assembly, entirely within the valving chamber. There are no dynamic seals to wear out, and only one moving part. The head's interior passageways are large enough to be used with a variety of hot melt materials such as packaging adhesives, product assembly adhesives and thermoplastic potting materials. These materials can be applied in various application patterns, determined by specific electrical signals from control and timing devices. Electrical power is supplied to the head through the supply hose to a quick-disconnect connector, found on the head. The E100 Head also has a full range of temperature options. The temperature control component is located inside the head heater block. The supply hose temperature is controlled by an adjustable capillary bulb or a solid state controller, mounted inside the supply unit. Refer to the supply unit service manual. The applicator head is designed for ease in maintenance.
